21 Charity Cycle Challenge 202117th September 2021
Earlier this month, 10 of 21’s super spinners cycled the very hilly South Downs Way, from Eastbourne to Winchester in the 21 Annual Cycle Challenge. The cyclists faced a gruelling 100 miles over 2 days, with an alarming 12,000 feet of climbing… which meant there was rather more pushing of bikes uphill than originally planned!
While the weather was perfect for Day 1 (a thin layer of cloud in the morning and a very gentle breeze), the heavens opened overnight and the chalky tracks turned the Downs into an ice rink for Day 2. Luckily there were no injuries more serious than a few battles with brambles and nettles and some achy muscles. Nothing that the 21 team spirit couldn’t overcome!
A special thanks to Guy Stanley and Adam Larner of Stansons for providing support over the two days with endless protein bars, energy drinks, bike repairs and much-needed encouragement!
The event was in memory of our colleague and dear friend Colin Lewis who sadly lost his battle with melanoma in May this year. We aim to raise awareness and funds for his chosen charity, the Melanoma Research Foundation. If you wish to donate, please follow the link to the Just Giving page below. All donations and support are greatly appreciated!
