COVID-19: Our Approach

19th March 2020

Dear Clients, Colleagues and Partners,

In light of recent guidance from the government which advises on social distance measures, 21Construction would like to assure you that we have implemented a change to our working procedures, both from head office at Charterhouse Street, as well as on our various sites in order to safeguard our teams whilst also delivering our contracts.

While we will be contacting all project teams with more detailed, specific information individually; below is an outline structure of our revised policy which we are confident ensures business continuity.

All staff have remote access to all of our operational systems and all devices have been uploaded with collaboration video conferencing software such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Due to the nature of the business, our staff can be categorised into 2 groups for the purposes of this policy:

Office-Based Staff:

(This includes all company administration functions, commercial management & design management functions)

We have split each of these departments into 2 separate teams and have asked each team to work remotely from home to protect themselves and minimise the risk of any infection, while the other team works from the office. This practice will alternate twice weekly.

Site-Based Staff:

(This includes project managers & site-based administration)

All sites will have a ‘buddy’ system implemented, whereby an additional project manager (buddy), previously external to the project, will be briefed on the key aspects and intricacies of the project and will be kept up-to-date moving forward, which will ensure a smooth handover should the current manager need to self-isolate. Where sites have more than one project manager, and if possible, each project manager will work alternatively from home / on site, again to minimise the risk of infection and ensure seamless continuity on site.

It is now more than ever that I would like to emphasise 21’s open door policy; please do be in touch with myself or anyone of my colleagues should you have any concerns or queries. The smooth delivery of projects is, as always, of utmost importance to us and in these unprecedented times, I hope that 21 will cement our reputation as a safe pair of hands.

Keith Ashcroft
